Inverdaran Cottage - Crainlarich

Andy S

**UPDATE 10th March**

Seven places out of ten are booked after a few people have had to drop out. Please contact Andy as soon as possible if you would like one of the remaining spots.

Crianlarich will be well known to all as a central hub in the southern highlands.  But the Ochils Mountaineering Club hut is less well known.  It has undergone recent renovation and is first rate accommodation.  Full details can be found here.

Inverardran Cottage is the whitewashed building situated at the east end of Crianlarich, next to the Ben More Restaurant. (O. S. sheet 50, Grid Ref 392250) on the north side of the A85.  It is within walking distance of the railway station It has come highly recommended by someone who has recently stayed there.

So for the winter climbers there is much of interest nearby – in particular the north east corrie and west buttress of Bein an Dothaidh. Routes such as Taxas IV *** as well as the entry level West Gully I**.  Ben Arthur(the Cobbler) also has a selection of fine winter routes of interest as well a classic rock routes.

For winter hill walkers, well where do I start, there is so much to go at.  Ben Cruachan and Stob Diamh with ascents either via the ultra-classic Dalmatty Horseshoe or Cruachan horseshoe is a must (and where you will find me on one of the days).  The Ben Lui, Ben Oss, Bein Dubharaigh circuit another superb outing.

Maybe Stob Binnien and Ben More as a pair if you don’t want to go far.  And there is much, much more.

So if you want a place just send me a mail, send me the money (£9 pp pn) and you’re on
