It looked like it was going to be full winter conditions for this one but as so often happens, Wales warmed up rather quickly and there was just a small patch of snow by one wall when I got there on Friday night. Undeterred a small group set off up Tryfan on Saturday to search out the last of the snow, which was duly found.

Returning to the hut on Saturday a select band of KMCers were waiting for their dinner. Al provided pre dinner entertainment by setting up a rope slide which verged between fun and occasionally close to lethal. Everyone sat down to a dinner of soup followed by roast pork or vegetable chilli and enjoyed a superb range of deserts provided by Trish.

Sunday saw people heading off not too early for walks and climbs in the pass, Capel Curig, Snowdon and Carneddau areas. A good time was had by all.

Meet Promo:

A warm invitation to all members and guests to come and get into the Christmas spirit down at the hut. This year Kasia and I will be attempting to warm yer cockles on Saturday evening after a good day out on the hills. We’ll be getting things going with a glass of Gluwein or two in the lounge. Revellers can crack a few nuts by the fire whilst chancing their hand at our Christmas quiz. Will Santa be on hand to dole out any prizes to the winners?

Dinner will be served after the quiz and we’d be grateful if people could let us know if they are coming so we know how many to cater for. £5 payable on the night will guarantee a 3 course meal to savour but please let us know if you are vegetarian. Bring your own drinks for dinner and a merry evening should be had by all.

Of course after perhaps consuming one or two more calories than might be normal on Saturday we need a strict fitness regime for the Sunday so after a not too early start perhaps a hike might well be the order of the day to round off proceedings nicely.

If anyone would like to volunteer to help then please let us know. We’d be particularly grateful to anyone who fancies making up a good hot pot of Gluewein.

Merry Christmas everyone. Ho Ho Ho.

James and Kasia Hoyle.
