Alpine Poetry Competition
There was a group from Manchester
Who crags and mountains they would pester
Far and wide would they climb
And wander sublime
Not knowing always just quite where they were
There were 3 members from Chorlton
who found the alps to be très bon
They spoke sense and good French
and could wait on the bench
if by their friends they were called on.
There was a young lady from Hyde
who managed to get a good ride
along with her friends
she braved the bends
that lucky young lady from Hyde
There was a young lady from Leeds
Who had done many a daring deed
With a sack on her back
she went up the big crack
that escapading young lady from Leeds
There was a young lady from Denton
Who everyone knew was bent on
a jolly good time,
some laughs with her climb
that lively young lady from Denton
There were 3 people from Cheshire
not bothered by the change in air pressure
They went higher and higher
with tales to inspire
those bloody fit people from Cheshire
There were a couple of geezers
whose club status was high as you please sir
Both of them were unstoppable
one went up,
the other went for miles horizontal
There was a young man from Spain
Who spent the night in the rain
His friend from Malaysia
Was even crazier
And tumbled to camp again
Now you may recognise some of our community
And guess who is who with impunity
Don't be offended by an omission
If you guess the author I'll do a commission
