Memories of Peter Walker

By Emily Pitts

My last memory of Peter was at the Archives Meet in March 2019. Peter, although unwell, made an effort to attend and stayed to the end, providing entertaining stories of earlier days of the club, particularly of the early KMC Pantomimes, which sounded like a hoot. His stories were always funny - he made them come to life with his own brand of entertainment. He could tell a good story and I can imagine he was a wonderful teacher and a wholly trustworthy and reliable climbing partner.

What struck me most about Peter, and what I will miss, are his positivity, his consistent support and his passion for the club. I will miss his upbeat presence at our events, as I’m sure a great many people will.

The theme that runs through each memory of Peter is his supportive, understanding and helpful nature. His support to me is something that I carry with me and which will not be forgotten. As KMC members, supporting each other is something that we can take forward to honour his memory.
