A great day out at picturesque Llandegla forrest. Everyone completed the black run which is 21km of adrenaline packed, rocky, challenging and technical off road paths. Some of us rolled down the route whilst others bombed down getting air at every opportunity.

Early on in the ride Dave’s face hit a tree and he met us at the bottom of the run with a bloodied nose and mouth. A few people hinted that he may want to head back along fire roads but Dave was enjoying the down hills too much for that.

Rachel an ex nurse advised Dave to go to a&e to get some stitches and later told me ‘the hole in his lip you could fit a finger in’. Dave did go to a&e after riding the black 10 miles and then having chips and tea. I later found out that the hospital had to call a specialist in to attend to Dave’s wounds.

James H was ridiculously fast up the hills. I panted and puffed my way to the top of one long hill and James looked a little worried. He thought there had been another injury. I had to explain to James that us mere mortals were just not as fast as him.

It was a really enjoyable day out, a great ride, beautiful scenery, great weather and great company. I look forward to more mountain biking meets.
