A long drive but it was nice to be south of the pillar of smoke from the Chew Valley! It was Dan and Frankie's first visit to Masson but Gareth had been before in the dry tooling cave so was able to show us the way.

We started on the sunny side with Dan leading "Who sat on my satsuma", a two-star 6a, also led by Gareth and Frankie. The perfect warm up given how fried we all were by the time we got to the top. Gareth and Frankie followed up with the equally good but somehow only one-star "A life of grime" while Dan recce'd the shady side of the quarry having already had enough of European style sun rock!

The team moved into the shade of Black Wall where Dan made an ascent of the immaculately named F*ck Your Gods in less than immaculate style. Frankie and Gareth followed with working goes on top rope. A good climb with sharp fingery moves that will certainly warrant another visit.

Sadly the team were too late for last orders at any local establishment which is a small price to pay for long sunny evenings and great routes.
