Arrived to find Rick, Ruth and Scott sat outside basking in the early evening sunshine, which unfortunately was just about the only sunshine seen all weekend! Saturday morning was dismal, resulting in a mass retreat to Llanberris followed by climbing at The Beacon. Margaret and Peter, together with Tony and Darren from the Doncaster Climbing Club, ever the optimists, drove to Gogarth hoping to escape the rain, however this was to no avail and the day was spent touring the tea shops! Saturday teatime saw the arrival of Kevin and Julie with tales of climbing on Pentrewan in glorious sunshine, much to everybody's disbelief! The evening was spent imbibing alcohol and copious numbers of cakes, with glasses raised in the absence of the birthday boy. John just happened to have to be on Crete that weekend (working?) and claimed not to know that birthday celebrations had been planned. Strange when it had been billed as such in the newsletter and everybody else knew! Sunday morning dawned brighter and there was much discussion of activity. Roger and friends called in briefly to say hello and scrounge a brew prior to going for a walk in the woods, Alan planned a solitary walk over the Glyders, Rick and Ruth were heading off mountain biking and a large team descended on Hollyhead Mountain and Gogarth. Unfortunately the day deteriorated into another damp squib, resulting in a hasty retreat from the crag. I believe a few routes were successfully completed but unfortunately not by the meet leader. A good weekend for socialising, but unfortunately not a lot else. Much thanks to all who attended.

Meet Promo:
This meet for myself serves a dual purpose: to extend a reciprocal invite to members of the Craven Pot Hole Club who have agreed to members of the KMC joining them on the winch meet at Gaping Ghyll and to celebrate John's birthday. So far I have had a response from one member of the Craven Pot Hole Club who is first and foremost a keen climber and who said that he is looking forward to the luxury of sitting in a hut in Wales and watching it rain, rather than sitting in a tent. I have assured him that it is definitely not going to rain on my meet and that he will meet many like minded people. I personally am so unfit that I have no definite plans for the weekend, but hope that the walkers amongst you will join me on a walk on Saturday (injuries permitting) and that I will still be able to move on the Sunday to do a little climbing. The one thing that I can assure you is that I will be there to socialise and celebrate with you all on the Saturday evening and listen to all the tales of 'daring do' that I cannot be part of myself, so the theme of the weekend is come along, do whatever you like and enjoy!
