A very reasonable turnout of happy fellows at Manchester Climbing Centre following the decampment from Burbage North before we even arrived! The majority of the group tried their hand at leading, some for the first time and others for the first time in a very long while. Extremely satisfying results including aching limbs and ravenous stomachs.
The rain pelted down on the two cyclists in the group as they raced to the Soup Kitchen in the Northern Quarter to commandeer a table and wait for the tardy drivers. Stuart and Beth joined us after we’d all stuffed our faces with pies, sausage rolls, soup, cake and brownies for a bit of socialising and I think we all went home having met someone new, had a laugh and exerted some effort in the climbing department.

Meet Promo:
*** CHANGE OF PLAN DUE TO WEATHER ***
Were you planning to join us for the Burnage North meet this weekend? The weather may be saturating all and sundry, but fear not. Instead of watery Burnage we will be taking a jaunt to Manchester Climbing Centre from 12-2.45 ish, after which there will be a social at the Soup Kitchen (Between CopaCobana and Blythe's) in the Northern Quarter, Manchester from around 3pm. Think hearty home-made soup, real ales, a gentle ambiance and, yes, the all important cake and good company.
If that doesn't tempt you, we will be re-arranging the newcomer's meet for some time in June or July.
Hope to see you there.

**** PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED - THIS MEET WAS ON SUNDAY 11th MAY. IT IS NOW ON SATURDAY 10th MAY. ALL OTHER DETAILS ARE STILL CORRECT****
Welcome to the traditional KMC newcomers meet, where anyone with a curiosity about the club can come and meet members and enjoy a jolly good day out on the crag. This meet is taking place at the charming and easily accessible venue of Burbage North.
Whatever your grade, there is something tasty for you – Bilberry Cake at HVS 5a, Still Orange at S 4a or, if you’re feeling in need of incitement of an alternative description, Artificial Stimulant E2 5c.
For those of us less familiar with the E grades, there is a wealth of options in the Diff and VDiff grades, Cranberry Crack VDiff being a fine example of an edible delight. We are, however, keen to avoid The Rainmaker HVS 5b. Sunshine all the way please.
Meet at 10am somewhere near The Sentinel or The Grazer areas.
If you have any questions or would like to arrange a car-share contact meet leader.
