A Walk in the Peak
A Walk in the Peak
A walk of 11 or 9 miles depending on the weather, up, around, down and through the beautuful landscape north of Buxton.
Meet at 10am in front of Buxton train station. Timed to allow train travellers to join us by catching the 8:50 from Picadilly arriving at 9:51 according to the timetable. Fear not, we will wait for you! Car travellers can park for free on nearby Palace Road, to the left of the station and right of Palace Hotel.
We will take the path behind the station to head out towards Lightwood. Ascend to Combs Moss, take path to Castle Naze (watch out for mud), then follow along Combs Edge. Great views fog permitting. Leave the Edge to arrive at Whitehall Outward Bound Centre. Track then takes us over hill to descend into Goyt Valley. Turn back towards Buxton, contouring valley and then ascending to Burbage Edge. Easy walk then through woods and park to a nice cuppa tea in one of Buxton’s many bijou cafes.
Hope to see you there
Please note Joe Dugdale will be leading this meet as I have to be in Worcester to prepare for my father's funeral.
