Peak District Mountain Biking
Members Attended- Gowry Sisupalan, Jared Kitchen, Emily Thompson, Kate Harvey.
Non Member- James Smith.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather as the whole weekend was forecast with rain and wind but we managed to find a gap and it was dry with blue skys.
We met on the Ridge in Marple and set off down to Strines Station. We headed out of the Goyt Valley and up the technical steep hills of Brook Bottom and over past New Mills. We zigzagged down Blake Hill and used the roads to get into Rowarth. Here we took some bridleways that took you riding through a stream which then eventually joined the pennine Bridleway. We looped around Lantern Pike and back into Rowarth where we stopped at the Little Mill Pub to get some drinks and snacks.
We headed back along the roads and bridleways to Mellor cross for some fantastic descent back to the Goyt Valley with a steep climb back onto the Ridge.
Most of us went back to my house for tea and cake and Jared kindly cleaned all the bikes.

Meet Promo:
Peak Mountain Biking
The route takes in some of the beautiful Western peaks with challanging uphill's and satisfying downhills. Riding along lanes and bridleways in and around Mellor Hill, Chinley Churn and Lantern Pike with potential stops at cafes/ pubs in Hayfield and Rowarth.
Meet at 10am at Ridge quarry car park on ridge Road Marple. The route will head off the ridge to Strines station and up to the Fox Inn Pub on Mellor Hill. We will then skirt around the hill towards New Mills and head along the Sett Valley Trail to Birch Vail. A challenging uphill then heads up and over Chinley down via Hills Farm and Peep O Day to join some bridle way that takes us over Coldwell Clough and into Hayfield.
In Hayfield there are various options for cafes and routes. If the group still has lots of energy we could head over middle moor and Lantern Pike into Rowarth. Alternatively Rowarth could be got to via the Sett Valley Trail and skirting halfway up Lantern Pike.
The route back would be along some beautiful single track down Mellor Hill.
Please let me know if you are planning on attending.
