Yorkshire limestone
This year’s Yorkshire Limestone meet will be making a return visit to Pot Scar.
Last year a dubious forecast put most people off except for an intrepid three (who were well rewarded for their effort) so we will give the venue another go.
Pot Scar is in a beautiful setting, south facing, quick drying, sheltered and catches any sun that’s going. The crag offers trad climbing with about fifty routes from Diff to E3, with plenty to go at in the VS to E1 range.
The crag is situated above the hamlet of Feizor where an additional major attraction is one of the best cafes in the Dales. It’s an ideal starting point for climbers or for walkers who might like to visit the crag on their travels.
To get there follow the A65 past Settle toward Clapham. About three quarters of a mile beyond a junction with the B6480 and just beyond the Falconry Centre, take a sharp right turn to Feizor. Park in the village (limited) or the farmyard opposite the café for a small fee.
Approach: Take the footpath (opposite the café) eastwards through the farmstead towards Stainforth. Follow the path along a wall for about 300m, over stiles, and go around the FAR side of the final field boundary to pick up a rising path that gains the base of the crag. DO NOT CUT ACROSS THE FIELDS FROM THE FARM.
Grid ref: SD 795678. You can check out the crag at - UKC Logbook - Pot Scar (ukclimbing.com)

I will be at the crag by 11.00am latest, so see you there.
