Glossop Walk
Present: Christine Beeston, Trish Cranston, Al Metelko
The weather was horrible, even the top of Shire Hill was in cloud. On reaching our high point, James’s Thorn, it was drizzling and blowing a hooley making everything wet inside and out. Visibility 50m
The route took us through Manor Park, south side of Shire Hill, elevenses near the bridge (Doctors Gate crosses Shelf Brook), up into the clag to James’s Thorn where it was decided to cut the walk short, we followed a few sheep trails across the moor to Yellowslacks Brook which was crossed to reach the path leading down to Yellowslacks Crag and a lunch stop in an area that was surprisingly out of the wind, down to Doctors Gate and back into Old Glossop. Round trip of 6 to 7 miles.

Meet Promo:
This will be circular walk of around 10 miles depending on weather and group composition. The route can be shortened at most points and for those wishing for a longer or faster day out are welcome to join us at the start (please bring a map).
Please note as we approach mid-winter the days are short so, please bring a head torch. Also, there is a small chance we may encounter winter conditions which would be great but most likely not so expect the ground to be rough and muddy in places. I will be bringing a walking pole to test the depth of the bogs!
Parking and meeting place is on the west end of Church St, Old Glossop.
Wearing of tinsel not compulsory…..!
Meet time is at 9:30am.
