Wedding of Carolyn Mills and Jamie Ledingham

By Gareth Williams

Many members will remember when Carolyn joined the KMC in 2010; she was a regular attendee at climbing meets. Carolyn moved from Manchester to Glasgow to be with Jamie, and has remained a long-distance club member since then. Jamie has also been on various club meets over the years as a guest, especially those based in Scotland.

We were delighted to be invited to their wedding on 6th May which was held at Mabie House Hotel, near Dumfries. The Scottish sun shone to provide a beautiful warm day, with the ceremony taking place outside in the hotel grounds. Following this, the Order of the Day advertised "Drinks, nibbles and....surprise!", and the latter did not disappoint.

The surprise turned out to be an exhibition of birds of prey -- a big hit with the guests, not least because we were well entertained whilst the bride and groom were having their photos taken. The display included a vulture, hawk, owls, eagle and falcon, with guests volunteering an outstretched arm for a bird to land on. The evening continued with a delicious meal, excellent speeches and dancing to tunes performed by a live band. As the night came to an end, guests departed to their various forms of accommodation, which included traditional hotels and B&Bs but also a good number of tents and campervans in the hotel grounds.

We look forward to seeing Mr and Mrs Ledingham at club meets in the future and personally want to thank them for a really enjoyable day. Congratulations!
