The week ahead of the meet saw cancellations due to illness and work, leaving just Colin, Michelle and Mark comtemplating a wet long Easter weekend in the Cairngorms with 12 hours driving on busy roads.

Sanity prevailed. A part-meet was held at Hobson Moor on the Saturday by Jim, Colin and Bob, and by Jim, Phillipa, Michelle and Mark on Monday in Chorlton, but apart from that, no tales of derring-do I’m afraid.

For those who don’t know the hut, it is in an excellent location for the northern and western sides of the Cairngorms, plus Craig Meagaidh, the Monadhliath or even Ben Alder. It is very close to the A9 and only 6 miles from Aviemore. We have booked 6 places so far for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (Thursday was not available).

The days will be longer and hopefully the conditions great for either winter days out, ice-climbing in the northern corries, skiing at Cairngorm or cross-country, or sun-kissed routes and Munro-yomping.

Normal booking conditions for hut meets please, which are that you don’t get a confirmed place until I see the colour of your money (or cheque). Cost is £8 per person per night.
