The weather turned out very well for this one thoughout the day - we were very lucky. The group, less Iain and Colin, met up at the Mam Tor National Trust car park at the appointed time - and we were off.
We swiftly went over the top of Mam Tor, through Hollins Cross and along the ridge via Lose Hill and then down to Hope. At the road in Hope I glanced up and there was Colin, joining us with immaculate timing. Colin had set off slightly later than us from Edale Station - had he arrived at this point a couple of minutes earlier then he would have gone on ahead wondering why he could not catch us up. Iain had also been sighted in the valley by Colin.
Over the river and under the railway and we headed off up Win Hill at as fast a speed as we could manage - in time for a lunch stop on the top. As we came down Thornhill Brink towards Hope Cross there was another possible sighting of Iain. We climbed up Crookstone Hill and thus onto the southern edge of Kinder.
At the col before we reached Ringing Roger a key decision had to be made. Do we descend and repair to the Nags Head or carry on round and descend via Grindbrook Knoll. The Nags Head won. So down we went via the Nab, As we reached the road, we caught up with Iain, so a full party entered the pub. Katharine Bagshaw took a break from cleaning her cottage and also joined us. Suitably refreshed, we left Colin to continue an Edale pub crawl, and headed back up to Mam Tor and the cars just after four o'clock.
A very pleasant day out.

Meet Promo:
Edale Skyline Walk - November 11th
Having been out on several recces I was unable to find a really worthwhile scramble in the Peak District that would not have a stream/waterfall running through it in mid-November. In fact they had streams running down them in mid-June and July.
So I will reserve that plan for next summer and am putting on a straightforward walk instead.
Meet in the Mam Tor National Trust car park at SK123831 at 09:30Hrs for a 09:45 start. There is free parking at the side of the road about 200m east of the entrance to the Nat Trust car park towards Castleton.
The walk will take us up over Mam Tor and along the "great ridge" to the top of Lose Hill before descending to Hope. Then we cross the Noe Valley and head up to the top of Win Hill.
There follows a very pleasant descent along Hope Bank to Hope Cross, then up onto Kinder via Crookstone Hill. We follow the southern edge of Kinder before descending to Edale either by Ringing Rodger or Grindsbrook Knoll depending on how we feel. From Edale we cross the Noe Valley again and climb back up to Mam Tor.
The distance if we come down Grindsbrook Knoll is about 13 miles.
So please come and join me on this leisurely stroll.
