Ty Powdwr - Working Meet
Members Present: Bob Kelly, John Castick, Iain McCallum, Dave Wylie, Dave Shotton, Colin Maddison - plus apologies to any one else I have missed off
Guests: Matt Evans-Smith, Roisin Maddison and Kathleen
I arrived at Ty Powdwr early on the 24th as I had received an email stating that the track has washed out from the rains the night before and it was impassable to vehicular traffic. Well John Castick was already in residence having arrived on the Thursday night and there was a medium goods vehicle. So much for that then.
I went for a run instead.
In fairness - whilst the track was passable - it did need work doing as much of the gravel had washed down beyond the bottom gate. Also the springs beyond the second gate had come to the surface.
Of some interest, what I did find out is that there is a twelve foot deep well beyond the second gate. It currently has a temporary cap on it and is marked by two large slate blocks. Sally has a plan to open it up again in the near future.
So much of the work on the Saturday was on the track. We dug a large "sump" beside the track, with the view that this would drain off much of the water that was draining down the track. As it happened this did not have the desired effect. It simply filled with water and then we were back at square one.
Culverts were cleared out and gravel shifted. Pot holes were filled in.
An excellent piece of work was carried out at the kissing gate which was given a gravel base which has made a real difference.
The loft above the kitchen was cleared out and given some woodworm treatment by Dave Wylie.
Much cleaning.
Some tap fixing.
I'm afraid I don't have a full list of what people got up to on the Sunday - but Colin, Matt and I went climbing in the slate quarries.

Meet Promo:
Prospective members and associate members are very welcome to attend any working meet, and to get to know the ins and outs of the Hut.
The accommodation is FREE for the weekend for all those who work on the Saturday and lunch is usually provided on the Saturday.
Due to the time of year work will mainly be concentrated inside, and will follow the usual pattern.
There are plenty of jobs to do, none too onerous.
On a working party we work on the Saturday and the Sunday is free time.
