The Kentmere Horseshoe

Members Present: Lester Payne, James Hoyle, Al Metelko, Trish Cranston, Dave Wylie, Graham and Sue Harkness

Guests: James Barrington

A windy yet dry day greeted us for this quiet horseshoe walk.  The biggest challenge of the day was probably the parking with James eventually asking a local if she would mind him parking on her drive which she kindly agreed to!  Off we set at a decent pace and I don’t remember us seeing anyone else as we went over the likes of Yoke and Ill Bell on our way to High Street.  Lunch was taken sheltering behind a wall before we headed on to Nam Bield Pass where I was persuaded that I would fail to complete the walk if I did not continue along the ridge and over Kentmere Pike.  This I enjoyed as despite having done the rest of the walk many a time I had never made the effort onto the last ridge which provides nice views into the even less trod Longsleddale.

Thanks to all who came and were such good company

Meet Promo:

Please join me for this enjoyable round of the Kentmere fells.  A good long walk between the rock and winter seasons to keep everyone fit.

Meet for a 9.30 start outside Kentmere Church (456 042).  Note that car parking is extremely limited so if you can car share it would be great.  The plan is to head over Yoke, Ill Bell and High Street with the option to then descend down to Kentmere Resevoir or continue over Kentmere Pike.  The latter option makes a sizeable walk so bring your head torches just in case.
