Cancelled due to the heavens opening the evening before.  James Williams made attempts at a few damp routes, but to little avail and left after a short time.  I, as meet leader, wisely stayed in bed. 

For outstanding scenery and top class rock, The Roaches is up there with the best in the UK.  There is surely no better a venue for our first bouldering meet of 2014.  

Having held our previous Winter Bouldering Meets in the more northerly parts of the Peak, we’re taking a southerly jaunt to the Roaches Top Tier, where the aspect allows them to dry quicker – something we may need to take advantage of during this deep-winter meetup.  

You can try your hand at Big ‘Oles (4) or see if the flake Pixie (5) takes your fancy, before seeing if you can overcome the might of Mean Ol’ Bastard (7b).  Whatever your skill and fitness level, there will be something for you.   As well as some nice cake.  Bring a flask.  And a bouldering mat if you have one. 

If unsure about the weather, check out the scribble at 9am, where the meet leader will post changes to the plan.  

Otherwise, meet from 10.30am at the Upper Tier Boulders.
