Yorkshire Bouldering - Shipley Glen

Daniel O'Brien

As part of an ongoing strategy to drag the KMC out of its Peak District comfort zone I present you with Yorkshire Boulering 2017 at Shipley Glen.  Described on UKC as "A low crag only really suitable for bouldering or soloing” Shipley Glen boasts a high concentration of good clean problems around the 4b-7b range.  There is lots of variety too.  Many of the problems involve climbing up small holds on numerous breaks, but there is a mix of sit-downs, traverses, slabs, arêtes and overhangs for everyone to get their teeth into…

I intend to arrive around 10.30 and will focus, initially in the John area for a warm up before following our noses for the rest of the day.

Essential equipment includes a warm jacket, a chalk bag, a wooly hat, climbing shoes and a flask with a warm drink.  The more ambitious boulderers might want to also bring a towel, a toothbrush and a bouldering mat.

More information and some inspiring photos can be found on UKC here - http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=1343

Hope to see many of you there,

Dan
