Ty Powdwr (Was Anglesey Sea Cliff Scare-a-thon)
Introduction:
In compliment to the sea cliff meets calendared this year, Gogarth must be included. The awesome and varied cliffs of Gogarth offer the committed climber a true vertical adventure, which may feel relaxed and pleasant on calm and warm evenings, or usher focus and excitement when wind is blowing. Gogarth is unique in the range of venues our country is blessed with and special amongst them. It is one favourite of mine, and is worth visiting and exploring.
Logistics:
Gogarth is situated on the northern west edge of Holy island on Anglesey, and crags which make Gogarth are along this section of coast. The meet will initially be focussed around the South Stack area where there are free car parks. We will meet at the RSPB south stack car park (LL65 1YH) at 10.30 on the Saturday 08/07/17.
The meet is based at Ty Powdr where we will benefit from the luxuries of our own club hut. We will meet at Ty Powdr on the evening of Friday 07/07/17, and drive to Gogarth during the weekend.
Pre-Requisites:
The sea cliffs of Gogarth are a committing environment to climb, and whilst every effort will be made to partner attendee’s appropriately, those who wish to come should be comfortable abseiling independently, and leading/seconding at VS or above.
For those who don’t like sea cliffs:
Also on Anglesey are the quartzite cliffs of Holy Head Mountain which offer a selection of single pitch routes. This venue may be accessed from the south stack car parks also. In addition, being based at Ty Powdr offers access to Snowdonia national park and all the adventures it possesses. There are no restrictions, please come anyway, it will be good to see you.
