West Yorkshire Mountain Biking
West Yorkshire is blessed with lots of good mountain biking. The gritstone hills have been long “paved” with ancient bridleways that are used today by us locals for fun times. My intention is to show you some of the best about these parts, and I hope you will all join me. Some details:
- We will meet at the National Trust carpark in Marsden, West Yorkshire, at 10 am. The carpark is next to the train station and is free.
- The ride with be 20-25km long and hilly. Please be fit enough to handle this; you will endanger yourself and others if you are not.
- The route difficulty will be either Blue or Red. The route choice will depend on the strengths of the group, and conditions on the day.
- Wind, rain, cold and mud are all things that can be encountered mountain biking in November. Please come prepared for the prevailing conditions.
- Please bring water and snacks. We will return to Marsden for lunch (~1pm) and can eat in one of the very good local café’s or pubs.
- Please ensure your bike is in good working condition. I will carry equipment to make most trial-side repairs, but cannot fix everything on the hill. Bringing your own spares (inner tube, chain links/pins, brake pads, etc) is advised because sizes vary; I may not have the size you need.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Note: If you have not signed-up in advance please assume the meet is cancelled. I will not loose a day to wait for no-one. Thank you.
