Start     Street Gate, adjacent to Malham Tarn (SD9049 6565) Lots of free parking here even on a Saturday in summer. Meet at 9.30am.

Route     Bridleway north past Gt. Close Plantation, High Midge Hills, Dew Bottoms (SD91951 6963) thence by the Monks Road to Arncliffe. Lunch either on the green or at the pub – The Falcon. Return initially along the south bank of the River Skirfare as far as Out Gang Lane (SD 9521 7069) to Arncliffe Cote. Take the bridleway SW to High Lineseed Head (SD9261 6837) then on to Gordale Beck and back to Street Gate.

Stats     11.5 miles and 500m ascent through characteristic Dales limestone landscapes with great views – if it’s not pouring down.
