Eastern Edges Walk or Climb weather depending

Cathy Gordon

Frogatt Edge is the main meet with a large variety of classic climbs including crack and slab climbs of all grades. It faces the afternoon sun and can escape the worst of the weather due to being relatively low lying.

The main approach is from parking by the bend  on the A625 up the hill from Froggatt and just below the Grouse Inn.  If this is full there is an NT carpark just below this. Follow the hill-crest footpath to a stream and gate, then onto the cliff which is 15 to 20 minutes from the car.

I plan to be at the Downhill Racer section at 10am.

The alternate bad weather option is to walk from the same parking along Froggatt, Curbar and Baslow Edges, down to Curbar and along the Derwent Valley Heritage trail back to the carpark.  Meet me at the NT carpark at 9.30am.  For those who would like to take the train, Grindleford station on the Hope Valley Line is a short walk away.  Please keep an eye on the scribble that weekend if this option is likely to take place.  Also bear in mind the clocks change to BST that morning.  I will plan to head up to the Grouse Inn afterwards in both events.

Look forward to seeing you there.
