The weekend started with a shopping spree in Llamberis with Christine and Philippa, whilst Mark and Michelle tried to lead Greg, Izzy, Dave, David, Mark and Jim up to the top of Carnedd y Filiast  to then complete the circle around Elidir Fawr.  However, the wind got to the better of everyone although Jim, Greg and Mark R tried the ridge up to CyF but got blown down again.  The rest bailed near Marclyn reservoir.  Caroline did a mega run over some local Welsh peaks, and Emily and Jared attempted a climb/scramble.   Trish and Al walked up Conway Mountain and then dipped their toes into Llanberis Lake and arrived at the hut in time for the quiz, shortly followed by Bridget and Roger who had been revamping cycle paths with Owen.  The quiz was expertly put together by Jared and tested our orienteering and map reading skills as well as our international mountain knowledge, and was accompanied by  mulled wine and mince pies.  The Xmas meal was a joint effort from Christine, Ann and Philippa, with food brought in by Michelle, Mark and Bridget and David.  Mark R and Jim happily peeled and sliced and everyone helped coordinate the food so it was all hot and cooked for the mealtime.  

The following day was wet and most people left for home some via Llanberis after a relaxed start.  Thanks to everyone for their contributions to the food and preparation, and to Jared and Emily for providing such an excellent quiz.  We raised nearly £200 for the Llamberis Mountain Rescue team.

Xmas Bash 2023

This years Xmas bash is filled with mulled wine and festivities.  Mark and Michelle are leading a walk, whilst Ann, Christine, Gowry and I (with the help of a few others) prepare a tasty 3 course meal following afternoon tea and mulled wine.  We would love you to join us.  Please email me on cathygordon101@gmail.com, or text on 07796 547139 and I will send my bank details for £15pp, and the remainder will go to Mountain Rescue.  The deadline for this is Monday 11th December 2023.
