Peak District Climbing: Birchens Edge (take 2)
Member Attended- Gowry Sisupalan, James Meakin, Mark Pilling, Cathy Gordon, Jack Buczko, Meirion Tanner
This was the second attempt this year to get to Birchens and it was fully attended with 6 people. We had a great day after a summer of lockdown. A few of the regular faces were missing. It felt more like the beginning of a climbing season with the excitement of being out in the peaks and meeting up with friends again. The weather was good and the crack jokes were back.
We split into different climbing teams. Mark Pilling who had not climbed much had a great climb leading Stokers wall HS, Hammock VS 5b, soloed Stoker’s Break VD and many more. Cathy was very busy and climbed 8 routes in total including leading Stokers wall (D) and Trafalgar crack (VD).
Jack and Miriam climbed Yo-Ho crack (VD), then Miriam teamed up with James to climb Nautical Crack (VD), Fo’c’sle Crack (S), Trafalgar Crack (VD), Camperdown Crawl (HS) and Monument Chimney (D).
A lovely day out with friends. Hope to see more out soon.
