Attermire Scar
Sport Climbing.
This meet will be at the very scenic Attermire Scar, just above Settle in North Yorkshire. It is our intention to climb on the select buttress's which have been bolted for Sport Climbing. There have been trad routes are Attermire for many years but the bolted lines are a fairly recent development. In many cases they are trad lines which have been retrobolted. We will be be based on Gorgon Buttress (part of The Escarpment) but may spread out as far left as Windy Buttress or right to Escarpment Right (Horseshoe Cave)
Some of us climbed here on a recent club meet (Lowstern Hut), and I believe it was agreed by everybody that it was a fine venue for a future club meet. In the Escarpment area where we will be based, there is a reasonable selection of routes in the grade range, 5 to 6a, and lots of harder stuff mainly up to 6c. The Victoria Cave area (5 or 10 minutes walk away) has the really hard stuff, up to 8a.
There are 2 parking areas, both a bit limited, so car sharing is sensible.
